Sawali refers to woven split bamboo mats used in the Philippines to construct walls.
It is a commonly used material in the construction of the ubiquitous nipa hut.
Sawali is associated with lower income rural housing because it is inexpensive and because its raw materials are found in rural areas where lower income households abound. It is not uncommon for sawali to also be used as a design element in higher class leisure centers and other structures to portray a rustic cultural architectural style.
where to buy sawali (woven bamboo matting)?
How is it sold, in fixed size like plywood, or in roll by the meter?
About how much does it cost?
Are there different thicknesses/strip size/weaving styles to choose from or only one "standard"?
Is it susceptible to termites/bukbok or already treated?
